Powerful piece of technology: our new airflow calculation software for New build and Refit projects.

Every day we work hard to develop new ideas and optimize existing concepts so that we can continually surprise our customers with innovative solutions. For example, we recently launched a new software that allows us to calculate the airflow that goes through ventilation grilles on superyachts. Read on if you want to know more about this.

Air pressure and air velocity are the most important elements for a properly functioning ventilation system. That's because they make sure that air flows evenly throughout the system and create optimal air circulation.

CFD simulation

So, measuring the limit values is very important for optimal air flow. And that's something we can accurately calculate with our new CFD software. We detect laminar and turbulent airflow using parametric CAD data. Even when minimal space for ventilation is available, the maximum permissible limits of airflow and air pressure can be accurately determined and processed in our ventilation solutions.

Extraordinary design

In addition to correct air pressure and air velocity, the shape of the louver, the cause of the air pressure difference, is also very important. This is because air flows can receive a lot of air resistance with louver types with a complex shape compared to those with an open, simple shape. Therefore, we take into account the airflow conditions of the specific louver and technical positions on the yacht in every design. We make your wishes visual and ensure optimal airflow.

A complete picture

When the owners stand on their yacht, they see an exceptional grille that is fully integrated into the design of the yacht. They don't have to worry about the complex technology behind it to make that exclusive grille work optimally.

Will we see you in Monaco?

The FlowGrill Mist Eliminator is an Air Intake Separation System for marine applications and is constructed entirely of plastic. Our high quality Mist Eliminator prevents below deck corrosion and malfunctions of electronics. It eliminates (extremely high) incoming saltwater loads and separates the smallest droplets (± 13 μm!). It also prevents sand, boat wash and other contaminants from coming in, while it maintains unrestricted air flow to engines and equipment. Our Mist Eliminator is specially designed for high filtration capacities at low and high air speeds. This means no longer increased maintenance and damage to engines and equipment. Our Mist Eliminator works best with FlowGrill’s louvers and Wire Mesh filters. This combination results in the best suitable airflow, pressure loss, low noise levels and minimum build in depth. But you can order the Mist Eliminator as an individual solution as well.

FlowGrill’s Mist Eliminators are suitable for both new-built and refit projects. We offer on-board installation by our service team and we offer annual maintenance and inspections on site.

Na onze aanwezigheid op de Monaco Yacht Show was FlowGrill weer aanwezig op 's werelds grootste beurs van apparatuur, materialen en systemen voor de internationale jachtbouwindustrie. FlowGrill maakt zich op voor de Monaco Yacht Show

In september 2022 is het zo ver. Voor de allereerste keer nemen wij met een eigen stand deel aan de Monaco Yacht Show, die plaatsvindt van 28 september tot 1 oktober. In aanloop naar dit event voor de crème de la crème uit de luxe jachtbouwindustrie vertelt Arnold Woerts, algemeen directeur bij FlowGrill, hoe hij en zijn collega’s zich voorbereiden én waarom het Zevenaarse bedrijf niet mag ontbreken op dit evenement. Lees maar mee.

De Monaco Yacht Show is geen onbekend terrein voor Arnold. Al achttien jaar komt hij naar het dwergstaatje aan de Middellandse zee om het evenement te bezoeken en bij te praten met bestaande relaties, maar nog niet eerder stond FlowGrill als exposant op ’s werelds meest toonaangevende jachtshow. Tot dit jaar.

“Tijdens de Monaco Yacht Show draait het allemaal om de meest luxe superjachten. Maar het is ook dé plek waar jachtbouwers, crewleden, managementbureaus en designers samenkomen. Jachtprojecten bespreek je direct met experts uit de branche, dat maakt het een zeer interessante beurs voor bedrijven die werkzaam zijn in de luxe jachtbouwindustrie”, legt Arnold uit.

Refit-markt

“FlowGrill groeit en we merken dat onze producten steeds bekender worden. Al achttien jaar zijn we een bekende speler bij werven die nieuwe superjachten bouwen, maar we richten ons ook steeds meer op de refit-markt. Want ook voor renovatie aan een superjacht weten klanten ons steeds vaker te vinden. Dit evenement is voor ons een uitgelezen kans om onze oplossingen onder de aandacht te brengen bij nieuwe doelgroepen.”

Functionaliteit en design gaan hand in hand

In Monaco laat FlowGrill de bezoekers zien welke mogelijkheden er zijn op het gebied van ventilatieroosters voor luxe jachten. “Men denkt nog weleens dat zo’n rooster een doorn in het oog is op een prachtig vormgegeven jacht. Maar met onze speciaal gevormde, hoogwaardige ventilatieroosters bewijzen wij het tegendeel. Bij onze producten vormen functionaliteit en design één geheel. Wij zeggen altijd: ‘geef je wensen maar aan, dan maken wij iets moois wat óók aan alle eisen voldoet’. Wij gebruiken ons computersimulatieprogramma om de functionaliteit van het rooster nauwkeurig te bepalen. Het ventilatierooster gaat altijd compleet op in het design van het jacht.”

Hoge kwaliteit

“Maar dat niet alleen. Ook de levensduur van onze producten ligt erg hoog. Onze ventilatieroosters zijn gemaakt van aluminium, RVS of composiet. Vooral aluminium is een gevoelig product, daar moet je op technisch vlak een goede conservering in aanbrengen. Wij maken en behandelen producten die langdurig bestand zijn tegen corrosie.”

Unieke dienstverlening

“FlowGrill is uniek in haar dienstverlening. Wij ontzorgen de klant volledig, of het nou een werf is of de crew. Wij ontwerpen, produceren, leveren en installeren onze producten allemaal zelf. We werken nauw samen met designers én bouwers van de jachten, vanaf het begin van het project tot eind.”  

Eigen stand met voorbeeldproducten

Van 28 september tot 1 oktober laat FlowGrill in haar eigen stand een aantal producten zien en is de beurswand een reallife-voorbeeld van een hoogwaardig ventilatierooster. “De bezoekers van de Monaco Yacht Show vinden design erg belangrijk, maar ook op technisch gebied moet het allemaal kloppen. Wij laten zien dat het bij ons allebei mogelijk is.”

Nog een voordeel van FlowGrill’s aanwezigheid in Monaco: projecten kunnen ter plekke besproken worden. “Samen met onze accountmanager Patrick Mannaart vertegenwoordig ik FlowGrill in onze stand. Bezoekers kunnen al hun vragen stellen en wij denken direct mee over jachtprojecten. Dát maakt de Monaco Yacht Show voor ons zo interessant.”

Het is duidelijk, bij FlowGrill staan ze te popelen om in september in het vliegtuig naar Monaco te stappen. “Ja, dit is voor ons echt the place to be”, lacht Arnold. “We kijken er enorm naar uit!”

‘Ik heb van mijn passie mijn werk gemaakt!’

Al jaren achtereen bezoekt hij de Monaco Yacht Show en is hij verzot op alles wat met de jachtbouw te maken heeft. Niet zo verwonderlijk dus dat Patrick Mannaart koos voor een baan in deze bijzondere branche. Als project- en accountmanager bij FlowGrill kan hij zijn hart ophalen, want hij werkt met én voor de meest luxueuze jachten ter wereld. Hoe hem dat bevalt, lees je hier.

“De jachtbouw zit in mijn bloed”, begint Patrick. “Daarom vind ik het heel gaaf om in deze branche te werken. Maar het is een apart wereldje hoor. Als je werkt in de jachtbouw moet je aan hele hoge eisen voldoen. Er heerst een zeer hoge mate van perfectie.”

Ventilatieroosters voor luxe jachten
Maar met die kwaliteit zit het wel goed bij FlowGrill. Patrick legt uit: “Wij verkopen ventilatieroosters voor luxe jachten. Niet zomaar ventilatieroosters, maar op maat gemaakte designstukken die volledig geïntegreerd worden in het jacht. Soms van wel 16 meter lang. Gebogen en gewalst: op het gebied van vormgeving kunnen wij elke uitdaging aan. Maar bovenal gaat bij dit type roosters functionaliteit hand in hand met een mooi ontwerp. Het rooster vormt echt een eenheid met het jacht.”

Rolls Royce
“Het is een nichemarkt waarin wij opereren. Ik durf best te stellen dat wij de Rolls Royce onder de ventilatieroosters bieden. We bieden het beste product én hebben veel know how. Zo berekenen wij middels computersimulaties de airflow, zodat het rooster altijd perfect past bij de specifieke situatie aan boord van het jacht. Inmiddels hebben we vijftig jaar ervaring in het ontwikkelen van (beweegbare) ventilatieroosters, filters en aanvullende producten.”

Passie wordt baan
“Het leukste aan mijn werk bij FlowGrill? Ik heb van mijn passie mijn werk gemaakt! Als accountmanager kom ik regelmatig op jachtwerven wereldwijd. Het internationale karakter spreekt me heel erg aan. Ik heb contact met klanten uit onder andere Duitsland, Italië, Frankrijk en natuurlijk Nederland. Ik houd me nu veel bezig met REFIT-projecten van jachten. Ik bezoek de projecten zoveel mogelijk om direct contact te leggen met de crew of projectleiders aldaar. In dat geval zijn we als gesprekspartner - FlowGrill - direct aanwezig op de plek waar we moeten zijn: het jacht.”

Wereldmarktleider worden
“FlowGrill bestaat uit een team van negen vakspecialisten op kantoor. Daarnaast werken we met vier vaste monteurs én opgeleide partners in het buitenland die de werkzaamheden ter plaatse uitvoeren. We zijn allemaal professionals met dezelfde instelling: de ambitieuze wensen van onze klanten realiseren. Onze focus ligt op de klant maximaal adviseren en ontzorgen in hun project.
